Patient: The staples behind my ears are driving me nuts – why?  Is there a trick to helping with that? Also, are there any type of exercises or massaging I should be doing now or soon? I'm finding little information on what to do.

If any of the above symptoms persist in your case, and you have checked it out with an ENT and gotten a clean bill of health, I would suggest you not panic (that makes it worse), and just take it week by week. Most likely when your body readjusts to the major trauma it has experienced, and everything reattaches itself and heals, these symptoms will go away.

Patient: I had a facelift January 23, 2003 and have had a lot of problems related to the ears and sinuses. #4. HEARING PROBLEMS

Patient: I find this very interesting. After my facelift I had, and still have problems, with my hearing. When I went back to my surgeon, and told him I was having problems with my hearing he looked down my ears and said that I had a lot of dried blood down the ears (when I had the facelift I bled an awful lot - probably because I was at the time taking vitamin E and Evening Primrose Oil which both thin the blood). I put drops in the ears but this still didn't make any difference, and I still have problems with hearing 1 and a half years later. My Doctor tells me that my ears are clear of wax etc and doesn't know what the problem is.

Response: If anything is really painful, radically uncomfortable, or swollen and red, by all means get to an ear doctor for a check up. If he gives you the o.k. you’re probably experiencing the usual post-op trauma annoyances of having surgery.
